OUR STEWARDS
Whiz is the founder of Sacred Warrior Fellowship, a spiritual fellowship devoted to helping men and women remember who they are beneath trauma, service, and suffering, and to return home to God, to themselves, and to one another.
Matthew served 15 years in the United States Navy as an F/A-18 Hornet fighter pilot and TOPGUN graduate, flying high-performance aircraft at the edge of human limits. Like many who serve at that level, the cost was cumulative. Years of operational stress, loss, and unprocessed trauma eventually led him into his own wilderness. What followed was not a collapse, but an awakening.
Through contemplative practice, disciplined integration, and sacred sacramental work, Matthew experienced a direct and personal encounter with God that restored what had been fractured and revealed what had always been present. That experience reshaped his understanding of faith, not as an institution or ideology, but as a lived relationship. It also clarified his calling: to walk alongside others as they remember their own wholeness.
Sacred Warrior Fellowship was born from that first encounter and the calling that followed. In that moment, Matthew understood himself not as someone to lead from above, but as an apostle in the original sense of the word: one who is sent to walk alongside others and help point the way home. The Fellowship exists not to fix people, but to hold reverent space for healing, truth, and spiritual communion. Matthew does not see himself as a guru or authority, but as a steward and companion, one who has walked the path, received the call, and now helps keep it clear for those who are ready.
In parallel with Sacred Warrior Fellowship, Matthew serves as President of the
No Fallen Heroes Foundation, where he leads national efforts focused on veteran trauma healing, suicide prevention, and long-term reintegration. He is also an active public speaker and advocate, bringing lived experience into conversations that bridge faith, neuroscience, and spiritual practice. Across all of his work, the aim remains the same: that no one be turned away from healing, and no one be told they are broken.
Matthew lives this work first in his own life alongside his beautiful bride, Suzi, who co-founded Sacred Warrior Fellowship with him. Together, they steward the Fellowship as an expression of their shared faith and calling. With their children, they live the belief that faith and family are not separate pursuits, but a single covenant practiced daily. Everything Matthew does flows from that center.
